What Would You Wear to Cook with Dame Prue Leith?

There are prizes, and then there are experiences you will probably still be talking about years later.

This one falls very firmly into the second category.

Between 1 September and 31 December 2026, anyone purchasing a pair of Prue spectacles or sunglasses from Bottomleys can enter a competition to win an extraordinary day for two with Dame Prue Leith at her home in the Cotswolds.

The winner and their guest will join Prue in her own kitchen, prepare a three-course meal together and then sit down to enjoy the results. There is even the option of a stroll around her garden afterwards, weather permitting.

No television studio. No enormous audience. Just you, your chosen companion and one of Britain’s most recognisable culinary personalities, cooking lunch together in the Cotswolds.

That is not your average eyewear promotion.

Eyewear with an appetite for colour

Prue Leith has never exactly blended into the background.

Her love of strong colour, bold shapes and wonderfully distinctive eyewear has become part of her signature. While some people choose glasses they hope nobody will notice, Prue understands that eyewear can be one of the most expressive things you wear.

It sits right in the middle of your face, after all. Why shouldn’t it have some personality?

The Prue collection captures that spirit beautifully. It includes confident colours, interesting shapes and playful details, but it is not simply about choosing the loudest frame in the room.

It is about finding the frame that brings something out in you.

That might mean a rich colour that makes your eyes look brighter. It could be a shape that gives your features more definition, or a frame that feels a little more adventurous than anything you have worn before.

The right glasses should never feel like fancy dress. Even a strong frame should still feel unmistakably like you.

Perhaps just a slightly more confident version of you.

“I love those, but I could never wear them”

We hear this surprisingly often.

Someone spots a colourful or characterful frame and immediately loves it. Then, almost before trying it on, they decide it is “too much” for them.

Usually, it isn’t.

Choosing eyewear from a photograph, a display or somebody else’s face is very different from seeing it properly styled on your own. The shape of your face, your colouring, your hairstyle and even the way you dress all affect how a frame looks.

A pair that appears incredibly bold on its own can look completely natural on the right person.

That is why our styling appointments are never about pointing you towards a wall of frames and leaving you to work it out. We take time to understand what you like, what you wear, how you want to feel and how much of a statement you are comfortable making.

We then bring frames to you.

Some will feel immediately familiar. Others might take you a little outside your usual choices. Very often, it is the pair somebody would never have selected for themselves that produces the biggest smile.

And no, choosing something distinctive does not mean you have to dress like Prue Leith from head to toe.

A beautiful frame can do all the work.

Glasses worth enjoying every day

There is something rather fitting about winning a memorable experience through something you will use every day.

Glasses are sometimes treated as a reluctant purchase. Something practical that has to be replaced when a prescription changes or an old frame finally gives up.

We think they deserve more thought than that.

Your eyewear can influence how you feel when you catch your reflection, how people remember you and how comfortable and confident you feel throughout the day. When the frame suits you and the lenses are carefully chosen for your vision and lifestyle, glasses stop feeling like a necessity.

They become something you genuinely enjoy wearing.

The Prue collection is perfect for anyone who believes life is too short for eyewear that is merely acceptable. There are frames with colour and confidence, but also plenty that introduce personality in a more measured way.

You do not have to make an enormous leap. Sometimes one unexpected colour, a slightly stronger shape or a clever detail is enough to transform how your glasses look and feel.

How to enter

Entering the competition is simple.

Purchase a qualifying pair of Prue spectacles or sunglasses from Bottomleys between 1 September and 31 December 2026 and you will receive one competition entry.

If you purchase more than one qualifying pair, you will receive an entry for each pair purchased.

Your completed entry will be submitted to Modstyle Eyewear UK Ltd, the competition provider. The winner will be selected at random and notified in writing by 19 January 2027.

The prize is for the winner and one guest to join Dame Prue Leith in her Cotswold kitchen. Together, you will prepare a three-course meal and enjoy lunch, with the option of a walk around the garden if the weather behaves itself.

The experience will take place on a mutually agreed date between 1 March and 31 December 2027. Travel is not included and the prize cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash. Full terms and conditions are available from Bottomleys.

The only difficult question…

Who would you take?

Your partner? Your best friend? The keenest cook in the family? Or somebody who should never normally be allowed near a kitchen without supervision?

You have until the end of December to discover the Prue collection, find the pair that makes you smile and enter the competition.

If you win, there will then be one more important decision to make:

What on earth do you cook for lunch with Prue Leith?
